Tarte: Tartelette In Bloom Review

Tartelette In Bloom Review

The Tarte Tartelette In Bloom is a neutral eye shadow palette with twelve shadows. The eye shadows range from light creams to deep browns with every shade in between. There are three rows of four shadows that include a cool-toned row, a neutral-toned row, and a warm-toned row. The Tartelette palette is made up of mattes and shimmers. All of the eye shadows (mattes and shimmers) have amazing pigmentation. They apply great to the eye without creating any fallout or patches. When dipping the brush into the palette, it does seem a little powdery but you do not see that when it is applied to the eye lids. The shimmer eye shadows are extremely shimmery on the eye and almost have a metallic look to them. I would definitely recommend this palette to someone who is looking for a diverse neutral palette or for someone who wants to add another great palette to their makeup collection. Also, the Tartelette In Bloom palette is a great deal for the price!

Tarte Tartelette In Bloom: $45.00

Best Shampoo/Conditioner for Colored-Hair

Best Shampoo/Conditioner for Colored-Hair

I have been coloring my hair since I was in my early teenage years, and throughout those years my hair has suffered some damage from all of the hair dye and styling tools. Most people would say to avoid creating more damage to your hair, you should stop coloring it and limit your use of styling
tools, which is true. However, it is not realistic for most people to never style their hair or touch up their roots. I, like many other people out there, like to style my hair now and then, and I can't stand when my roots grow out too much. So, if we are going to use hot tools and dye your hair, what can you do to help your hair look as healthy as possible?

The first thing you want to consider when trying to make your damaged hair more healthy is: How often do you wash your hair? To prevent drying out your hair as much as possible, you will want to limit washing your hair with shampoo to three to four times a week. The routine I like to follow with washing my hair during a week's time period is the following:

Day 1: Wash all of the hair with shampoo and conditioner.

Day 2: Body shower only.

Day 3: Wash only the roots of the hair with shampoo, and condition all of the hair.

Day 4: Body shower only.

Day 5: Wash all of the hair with shampoo and conditioner.

Day 6: Body shower only.

Day 7: Wash only the roots of the hair with shampoo, and condition all of the hair.

Note: You can add a deep conditioner once or twice a week depending on how damaged your hair is.

By limiting the amount of shampooing you do throughout the week, it can help your hair from drying out too much. When you shampoo your hair too much, your hair can be stripped of its natural oils causing your hair to become more dry and look more dull. The root is the section of hair that gets oily the quickiest, this is why it is okay to shampoo that part of the hair more often. Since it produces oil, it can tend to need to be washed more often than the ends of the hair. By using a conditioner every time you wash your hair, you can help restore moisture where the hair needs it especially at the ends where the most dry and damaged part tends to be.

Note: Using a quarter-sized amount of shampoo and conditioner is plenty to execute a good wash.

I have used many different shampoos and conditioners on my hair from drugstore to high-end and there are a lot of wonderful brands out there, but the shampoo and conditioner I am loving is by Wella. In particular, it is the Wella Brilliance line. The Brilliance line has two kinds of shampoos and conditioners, one is for Fine to Normal Hair and the second is for Coarse Hair. These products come in 10 oz and 33 oz bottles. I personally use the Fine to Normal Hair because my hair is on the finer side even though I have a lot of strands of hair. The Brilliance Shampoo is a light-weight pearl formula that is not too heavy and leaves the hair feeling clean without leaving any sort of residue behind. It lathers when washing your hair which is something I know a lot of people look for in a shampoo. The Brilliance Conditioner is a a heavier cream forumla that immediately makes your hair feel soft and leaves a beautiful shine when it is dry. Both the shampoo and conditioner have a light fragrance that smells great but is not too over-powering so it does not compete with perfumes or body sprays.

Wella Brilliance Shampoo: $15.50 to $24.50
You can buy this at: Ulta or wella.com
http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=xlsImpprod4450567&skuId=2230385&CPMID=CSBING&CAWELAID=330000200000121682

Wella Brilliance Conditioner: $16.50 to $29.50
You can buy this at: Ulta or wella.com

After washing and towel drying your hair, you will want to either let it air dry and brush it when it has dried completely, or use a wide-toothed comb or Wet Brush while it is still wet. I personally like to use a Wet Brush because my hair is very curly so if I let it air dry without brushing it, it becomes very knotted. Using a wide-toothed comb or Wet Brush helps brush out the hair without pulling out the hair or breaking off the ends. This is ideal for maintaining the healthiest hair possible. The less breakage and damage done to the hair, the better it looks.

Wet Brush: $9.99 to $11.99
You can buy this at: Ulta or Kohl's

Top 10 Highlighters

Top 10 Highlighters

Out of all of the makeup products you can buy, highlighters have to be on my top three favorite purchases. There is nothing like turning your head and catching a glimpse of a glowing cheekbone, or creating that perfect pout with a highlighted cupid's bow. There are so many great highlighters out there that it was hard for me to choose my top 10 favorites. In this blog post, I am only going to mention highlighters that are still avaliable and are made in powder form. I will make another blog post on cream and liquid highlighters at a later date. My top 10 highlighters range from drugstore to high-end and incorporate all different colors such as white, champange, golden, pink, and beige. Also, I tried to make sure that my selection included modest highlights to highlights that could blind you in direct sunlight. In these 10 highlighters, every person with every skintone can find the highlighter that suits them the best.

Powder highlights are best applied with a smaller, fluffy synthetic brush. This type of brush will ensure that an evenly distributed application is well executed with ease. A great example of this kind of brush is the Real Techniques Setting Brush. Also, another great way to apply a highlighter is to use the gifts God gave you... Your fingers! Using your fingers, is always a good way to get a light application of a product that is still pigmented. To achieve the perfect highlighted look that makes you look as tho you are glowing from within, you can apply your highlight on the tops of the cheekbones, down the center of the nose, on the cupid's bow, on top of the brow bone, and in the corner of your tear duct.

Lightscapade by MAC Cosmetics: Cool toned white.

Moonstone by Becca: Shimmering pearl.

Illuminated by Urban Decay: Sparkling light beige.

Highlight-01 by Laura Mercier: Radiant beige.

Translucent Pearl by Physicans Formula: Frosted light pink.

Skincare Products for Dry Skin

Skincare Products for Dry Skin

Finding the perfect skincare products for your skin type can be difficult, and experimenting with the trial and error method can get quite expensive after a while. The first step you will want to take in finding the skincare that works the best for you is to figure out what kind of skin you have. Do you have dry, oily, normal, or combination skin? Once you have figured that out, you will want to determine what you want your skin to look like. Do you want it to be luminous, more matte, dewy, more even, etc.? After figuring out your skin type and what you want it to look like, you can start searching for skincare products that best fit your needs. The best way to find ideal products to implement into your skincare routine is to research.. research.. research. Having used the trial and error method myself and spending more money than I would like to admit finding the perfect skincare, I feel that I have found the jackpot when it comes to skincare for people with dry skin. In the future, I will be posting about skincare products for other skin types but today I am going to focus on products that are best for people who have dry skin or want their skin to be dewy and luminous.

The first step I like to take when starting my skincare routine is using a makeup removing wipe to take any makeup, dirt, or bacteria off of my face. Just because you are not wearing makeup does not mean you can't use a makeup wipe to clean your face prior to using a facial cleanser. Even when I have a bare face, I like to use a makeup wipe to take off any dirt or bacteria so my cleaner can really get in and clean my skin. The best makeup removal wipes I have found are the Neutrogena Cleansing Towelettes. These towelettes are soft clothes made with a makeup removing cleanser. You can use them straight from the packaging and do not have to add water which makes them great for travel and on-the-go. The Neutrogena Cleansing Towelettes removes all traces of makeup and dirt including eye
makeup without burning or irritating the skin or eyes. This is very important because a lot of makeup removing clothes can burn the eyes which is never a good experience when you want to quickly remove your makeup or prep your face for cleansing.

Price: $4.99
You can buy this at: Target, Walmart, and Ulta
http://www.target.com/p/neutrogena-makeup-remover-cleansing-towelettes-refill-pack-25-count/-/A-11536492?ci_src=328768002&ci_sku=11536492&ref=tgt_adv_XS000000&AFID=bing_pla_df&CPNG=PLA_Health%2BBeauty%2BShopping&adgroup=SC_Health%2BBeauty&LID=700000001230728pbs&gclid=%5B*GCLID*%5D&network=s&device=c&querystring=eutrogena%20cleansing%20wipes&gclid=[*GCLID*]&gclsrc=ds

Just using a makeup removing towelette to clean your skin can cause it to become more dry by leaving a film on the skin from the cleanser. This is why it is important to use some kind of liquid or solid facial cleanser to clean the skin and pores on your face. I have found that the Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser is a great cleanser to deep clean and remove any dirt and bacteria that the makeup wipes missed. The Cetaphil cleanser comes in a few different formulas such as Normal to Oily, Dry, Sensitive, etc. I have personally tried many of the different formulas and have found that they pretty much do the same thing to my skin. They all cleaned my skin so it felt refeshed, and I haven't noticed that any of them have dried out or stripped my skin of its natural oils. The way I have found this facial cleanser to work best is to put a dime to quater size amount on my Clarisonic Mia 2 and work it gently into the skin. The Clarisonic Mia 2 is a cleansing brush that has a rotating brush head with four settings to clean your face. You can purchase different brush heads for the Clarisonic to fit your needs such as the sensitive brush, the deep cleasning brush, etc. The Clarisonic brushes are water proof so you can use them in the shower and can be cleaned by running the brush head under the water until you feel that all of the product or dirt is washed away. When you first use the Clarisonic, you may notice that you break out more than usual. This is because the brush is deep cleaning our pores and after about a month or two, the Clarisonic will have pulled out all of the imperfections in your skin and the break outs will subside. When you finish cleansing the face, you will want to towel dry your skin using a patting motion to soak up the water. By patting the face dry with a towel, you can help prevent premature wrinkles and fine lines because you are not pulling on your skin.

Price: $6.59 to $10.39
You can buy this at: Target, Walmart, and Ulta
http://www.target.com/p/cetaphil-normal-to-oily-skin-daily-facial-cleanser-16-oz/-/A-13376543#prodSlot=medium_1_2&term=cetaphil+cleanser

Price: $149.00
You can buy this at: Macy's, Nordstrom, or Clarisonic.com

After cleansing and towel drying your face, you will want to put on a moisturizer. People who have dry skin usually tend to have some type of irritation or sensitivity when it comes to the skin on their face. Personally, I have extemely dry patches and my skin tends to be sensitive and get irritated very easily. I have tried so many different moisturizers ranging from low-end drugstore lotions that were only a couple bucks to expensive high-end moisturizers that cost over $100. Thankfully, the one I found that works best for dry skin is a mid-range priced moistuizer called First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream: Intense Hydration. This facial moisturizer is a heavier cream that gives the skin amazing hydration without making it feel or look greasy or oily. The Ultra Repair Cream allows the skin to breathe while giving it a luminious glow. Since I am pretty dry, I use this moisturizer both day and night, but if you have normal, slightly dry skin you can use this at night only for intense hydration. A good morning moisturize for slightly dry skin is the Origins GinZing Energy Boosting Moisturizer which you can find at Sephora or Macy's.

Note: If you are planning on spending time outside, you will want to add a SPF to your skincare routine. You want to use a SPF that is at least SPF 15, whether it is a SPF for your face (make sure to get one that is made for the face otherwise it can cause you to break out), or a foundation that has SPF in it already. If anyone would like me to go over SPF's for your face or how to know if you are using SPF the correct way (yes there is a correct way), comment below or message me and I will
explain this in a future blog post.

Price: $30.00
You can buy this at: Sepora or firstaidbeauty.com
http://www.sephora.com/ultra-repair-cream-intense-hydration-P248407?skuId=1217744&om_mmc=ppc-MSN&mkwid=cc5pf9hc&pcrid=4350365276&pdv=c&site=us_search&country_switch=us&lang=en

Following moisturizing your face, it is important to add extra moisture around your eye area to help prevent fine lines and wrinkles. The eye area can be one of the most sensitive areas on the face because the skin is so thin and if a product gets into the eye that is not meant for that area, it can burn and irriate them which can cause redness and discomfort. This is why you will want to use a cream that is made for the eye area instead of using the moisturizer you put on your face. I like to use two different eye creams, one for the daytime and one for the nighttime. You don't have to use two eye creams if you dont want to, I just find that they do different things for me depending on the time of day. For instance, I like to use the Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream during the day because it is a lighter cream. A lighter consistency eye cream is good for daytime use because it hydrates the eye area without disturbing any makeup you apply afterwards. I love using the Origins QinZing Eye Cream because it is also made to depuff and brighten the under eye area which is great for pre-makeup application or even going bare faced. The eye cream I would recommend for nighttime use is the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Cream. This eye cream is a little bit thicker than the Origins GinZing so it is better for a nighttime application. The Advanced Night Repair is a thicker cream that is highly moisturizing and is great for nighttime use because of its repairing properties. When using a more repairing eye cream, it is good to stay makeup free so the cream can work to its full potential without being disturbed with other products being layered on top.

Price: Daytime: $30.00 http://www.sephora.com/ginzing-refreshing-eye-cream-P297511?keyword=ORIGINS%20GinZing%E2%84%A2%20Refreshing%20Eye%20Cream%20P297511&skuId=1375625&_requestid=371829

Nighttime: $58.00 http://www.sephora.com/advanced-night-repair-eye-synchronized-complex-ii-P380023?skuId=1632181
You can buy these from: Macy's, Sephora, and Nordstrom

If you want to add extra moisture to you skin, I would suggest using a beauty oil. A beauty oil is an oil that can be used directly on the skin, hair, and nails to improve hydration, radiance, and balance. I love the Josie Maran Pure Argan Oil Light. This oil is a lightweight oil that helps provide you with hyrdation without making your skin feel continuosly oil. You will look like you have an oil on your skin, hair, and nails at first, but the oil quickly absorbs while leaving you feeling extra moisturized. Using one to two drops is enough for one whole area such as the face, your hair, or all of your nails. Any more than one or two drops is a waste of the oil. Another great use for a beauty oil is to add one or two drops in your foundation. If you ever find that your foundation is too drying or too heavy, by adding the oil, you can sheer out the foundation and add a bit of hydration back into it.

Price: $48.00
You can buy this at: Sephora or josiemarancosmetics.com
http://www.sephora.com/100-pure-argan-oil-light-P380805?keyword=JOSIE%20MARAN%20100%20percent%20Pure%20Argan%20Oil%20Light%20%20P380805&skuId=1548270&_requestid=373491

Once a week it is always a great idea to use a face mask on your skin. There are so many great face masks out there that you can find to suit the needs you have for your skin. I love GlamGlow masks! I have tried most of them, and they are all amazing. When I am feeling extra dry, I like to use the GlamGlow Thirstymud Hydrating Treatment to give me that extra boost of moisture. This is a semi-clear mask that you leave on your skin for 5 to 30 minutes depending on how much moisture you think you need. I wouldn't leave every face mask on for 30 minutes but since this is a soothing, hydrating mask, it is okay to leave it on longer than other masks. To remove the Thirstymud Hydrating Treatment, you want to take a warm clothe and gently wipe off the mask (trying not to rub your skin too hard.) This GlamGlow mask will make your skin feel super hydrated and refreshed afterward. You only need to use a nickel to quater size once a week for an extra boost in hydration.

Price: $69.00
You can find this at: Sephora, Nordstrom, and glamglowmud.com

Top MAC Lipsticks for Fair Skin

Top MAC Lipsticks for Fair Skin

Price: Regular Lipsticks-$17.00 and Mineralize Lipstick-$23.00
You can buy this at: MAC Cosmetics, Macy's, and Nordstrom
www.maccosmetics.com

After working at MAC for a couple years, a frequent question I am asked is "What are your favorite MAC lipsticks?" Since I am naturally on the fair side (NW15 to NC20 in MAC foundation), I thought a good place to start would be to talk about some of my favorite MAC lipsticks that are great for a person with fair skin, as well as lip liners that would compliment the lipsticks to create the perfect lip color. Using a lip liner is also going to increase the longevity of your lipstick and make it easier to clean up your lip line. The following lipsticks are my favorite suggestions for people who have fair skin:

Angel (Frost): Soft pinky nude. Angel would be good paired with Dervish Lip Liner.

Shy Shine (Lustre): Soft mauve. Shy Shine would be good paired with Boldly Bare Lip Liner.

Chatterbox (Amplified): Bright pink. Chatterbox would be good paired with Dervish Lip Liner.

Vegas Volt (Amplified): Bright coral. Vegas Volt would be good paired with Lasting Sensation Lip Liner.

Lush Life (Mineralize): Deep plum. Lush Life would be good paired with Magenta Lip Liner.

Everyday Diva (Mineralize): True red. Everyday Diva would be good paired with Cherry Lip Liner.

Holiday Gift Ideas for Her

Holiday Gift Ideas For Her

Here are some great holiday gift ideas for every girl with every budget.

1. Urban Decay Naked Smoky Palette

Price: $54.00
You can buy it at: Sephora, Ulta, and select department stores
http://www.sephora.com/naked-smoky-P398419?skuId=1724350

The Urban Decay Naked Smoky palette has twelve eyeshadows including glitters, shimmers, and mattes. The eye shadows are a combination of warm and cool tones to create the perfect smoky eye. The colors include (left to right) High, Dirtysweet, Radar, Armor, Slanted, Dagger, Black Market, Smolder, Password, Whiskey, Combust, and Thirteen. The palette also comes with a dual-sided eyeshadow brush, as well as a lookbook for makeup ideas.

The Naked Smoky Palette is a thin rectangluar shape that is easy to store. The outside of the palette is a hard cover with a smoky print. The case does not get dirty when it comes in contact with other makeup produts. The Naked Smoky Palette also comes with a decent size mirror on the inside so the user can have an easy makeup application. The dual-ended eye shadow brush is crulety-free, and can be a useful tool for traveling and on-the-go since it has two different brushes in one. Also, the lookbook is a great tool that helps the user to create stress-free smoky eye shadow looks.

The Naked Smoky Palette is great for people who are looking for an eyeshadow palette that is diverse in tones. Since there are warm and cool tones that range from light to medium to dark, any user can create a multitude of goregous eye looks. You have twelve netural-toned smoky eye shadows that range from champanges to bronzes to grays to create the ideal smoky eye look, but you also have the option to create simple netural eye looks that gives the palette some diversity. The eye shadows are very pigmented and can be applied to the eye with a wet brush for a more metallic look. The only downside to the Naked Smoky Palette is the eye shadows do have fallout. Fallout from the eye shadows can be avoided by using an eye shadow base such as the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion or a MAC Paintpot, or by wetting your makeup brush.

2. Dolce by Dolce & Gabbana

Price: $33.00-$160.00
You can buy it at: Sephora, Ulta, and select department stores
http://www.sephora.com/dolce-P385301?skuId=1601319

Dolce by Dolce & Gabbana is a delicate and feminine scent that is suitable for most woman. The notes in this perfume include Neroli Leaves, Papaya Flower, White Amaryllis, White Daffodil, White Water Lily, Cashmeran, Musky Notes, and Sandalwood. Dolce has a fresh and floral scent that is light enough for a daytime fragrance yet lasts all day with just a spray or two. The perfume comes in five different sizes which is a 0.25 oz travel size spray bottle to full-sized perfumes that range from a 1 oz to a 5 oz bottles.

Dolce by Dolce & Gabbana is packaged in an elegant clear glass bottle with a white flower and black ribbon on top which adds femininity to the packaging. The perfume itself is a light pastel green color that adds warmth and even more of a delicate touch to this soft and beautiful scent. I tend to reach for Dolce when I want to wear a clean and floral scent that will last me throughout a long day without having to re-apply. I like to wear this perfume all year round, and will keep repurchasing it for my collection for years to come.

3. E.l.f Blush Palettes

Price: $6.00
You can buy it at: Walmart, Target, and elfcosmetics.com
http://www.elfcosmetics.com/p/blush-palette

The e.l.f blush palettes are a great gift idea because you get four blushes in one palette for only $6.00. How can you beat that?! The palette comes in two color options that include "light" and "dark." These e.l.f palettes are good quality for a low price. The actual blushes are highly pigmented and can be a little powdery, but the product is not powdery enough to devalue the palette or persuade me not to recommend them. The palettes are a mixture of shimmery and matte shades that give you diversity for different occasions and seasons. The colors in the blush palette are great for most skin colors and skin tones. Little product is needed for application because of the pigmentation so the product will last for a long time. The "light palette" includes colors like pink, roses, and peaches while the "dark palette" has deep roses, peaches, and burgundy shades. The e.l.f blush palettes are great for travel as well as everyday wear because the size of the palette is small enough to fit easily into a travel bag. Yet the actual blushes are large which makes the value of the product well worth the price. The price of the blush palettes are so affordable you can splurge and buy both.

Price: $160.00
You can buy it at: sigmabeauty.com
http://www.sigmabeauty.com/essentialkit/p/CKPARNT1

The Sigma Essential Kit has twelve amazing quality brushes for the face and eyes which allows the user to create a complete makeup look with a flawless application. These brushes are made with synthetic fibers, so you can use them for powder, cream, and liquid products and clean them easily for the next use. The brushes that are included in the Essential Kit include E05 (eye liner brush), E30 (pencil brush), E40 (tapered blending brush), E55 (eye shading brush), E60 (large shader brush), E65 (small angle brush), E70 (medium angled shading brush), F30 (large powder brush), F40 (large angled contour brush), F50 (duo-fiber brush), F60 (foundation brush), and the F70 (concealer brush.)
Sigma brushes are a great investment because the brushes maintain their quality and shape for long time. I have personally owned my Sigma brushes for over eight years and they are all in great condition. The price of Sigma brushes is average in the market compared to other top brush brands such as MAC and Makeup Forever. Other than the synthetic fibers that make up the brush head, the handle and ferrule (the metal ring that holds the brissels of the brush in place) is a sleek black and silver which adds a classic look to your brush collection. The Sigma Essential Kit brushes are easy to control to help you create the perfect makeup look you are going for. I have repurchased from Sigma many times for other brush sets and individual brushes and I have never been disappointed.

5. Tech21 Impactology Classic Frame Wallet Phone Case

Price: $10.00-$40.00
You can buy it from: amazon.com and Verizon stores
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00O2LHFPG?keywords=tech21%20impactoogy%20wallet%20phone%20case&qid=1449416544&ref_=sr_1_sc_1&sr=8-1-spell

This sleek black wallet-phone case would make a great stocking stuffer. The phone case is made of a slant-indented rubber that is made of good quality that barely gets dirty and is easily cleaned. It completely encompasses your phone and prevents it from getting scratched or broken. The case has a door flap that covers the front of the phone and can by clipped shut when you are not using it. On the inside left of the phone case is a small pocket where you can fit up to two credit cards or a small amount of cash in case you don't want to carry a wallet or purse with you. Another great feature the Tech21 phone case has is it can be used to prop your phone up so you don't have to hold it up yourself to watch videos or Facetime loved ones, etc. This phone case looks very sleek and sophisticated, and is one of the most practical phone cases I have ever owned.
